Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (PGCIL) has received the letter of intent for developing an ISTS-TBCB scheme housed under “Rajasthan IV 4A Power Transmission Ltd.”
In a brief stock exchange filing, PGCIL said that the letter of intent (LoI) was received on November 25, 2024.
As reported by T&D India on November 8, 2024, three developers – PGCIL, Sterlite Power and Adani Energy Solutions Ltd (AESL) – had qualified for opening of initial price bids.
The ISTS-TBCB scheme is termed as “Transmission system for evacuation of power from Rajasthan REZ Ph-IV (Part 4: 3.5 GW): Part A” and has REC Power Development & Consultancy Ltd (RECPDCL) as the bid process coordinator.
Likely to cost Rs.5,845.93 crore, as estimated by National Committee on Transmission (NCT), the scheme is scheduled to commission in 24 months.
The transmission scheme will involve development of infrastructure in Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh. Some key elements include augmentation of the Barmer-I Pooling Station in Rajasthan, setting up of a new 765/400kV, 2×1500 MVA AIS substation at Ghiror in Uttar Pradesh, erection of a 765kV double-circuit line from Ghiror substation to Dausa (around 305 km), etc.
The overall scheme “Transmission system for evacuation of power from Rajasthan REZ Ph-IV (Part 4: 3.5 GW)” has been bifurcated into two components – Part A and Part B.
Part B is housed under “Rajasthan IV 4B Power Transmission Ltd,” currently a wholly-owned subsidiary of bid process coordinator RECPDCL.
As discussed in T&D India’s story dated November 18, 2024, PGCIL is also amongst the contenders for Part B, alongside Sterlite Power, AESL and a new entrant Dineshchandra R. Agrawal Infracon Pvt Ltd (DRAIL).
According to information available with T&D India, PGCIL is expected to soon receive the letters of intent for two ISTS-TBCB schemes – Shongtong Power Transmission Ltd and Kudankulam ISTS Transmission Ltd – for which PGCIL has been named L1 bidder. In FY25 so far, PGCIL has been formally awarded 15 ISTS-TBCB schemes in that the project SPV has been formally acquired by PGCIL from the respective bid process coordinator.
