BHEL, in association with Hitachi Energy India Ltd, received a large HVDC-related order related to the “Khavda V-A” project being developed by a TBCB-subsidiary of Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (PGCIL). The order relates to ±800kV LCC-based HVDC terminals at Khavda (Gujarat) and Nagpur (Maharashtra), along with associated AC systems.
During the quarter, BHEL also received an EPC order for a 765kV air insulated switchgear (AIS) substation package, and various substation extension orders in the 400kV and 765kV rating. The Central PSU engineering firm also landed orders for supply of transformers of various ratings from transmission companies, the investor presentation said.
All power T&D-related orders fall under BHEL’s “Industry” segment, while “Power” represents utility-scale power generation-related activities.
In another significant development, BHEL, in Q3 of FY25, emerged as the successful bidder for the main plant (boiler, turbine-generator) package for NTPC’s 3×800-MW Telangana Stage-II supercritical thermal power plant in Telangana. Accordingly, BHEL has received a limited notice to proceed (NTP) from NTPC Ltd, to initiate basic engineering.
