The inauguration of Indonesia’s first high voltage and extra high voltage factory owned by PT Crompton Prima Switchgear Indonesia (CPSI), was held at the Modern Cikande Industrial Estate, Banten, Indonesia, on August 20, 2018.
The factory inauguration was graced by a number of dignitaries including Director Technique and Environment, Ministry of Electricity, Government of Indonesia— Munir Ahmad—and Gautam Thapar, Chairman, Avantha Group.
The plant has capability for production of SF6 gas circuit breakers, lightning arresters and instrument transformers, at voltage levels of 70kV to 500kV.
PT CPSI is a joint venture between CG International Holdings Singapore Pte Ltd (a subsidiary of CG Power & Industrial Solutions Ltd) and PT Prima Layanan Nasional Enjiniring (a subsidiary of PT PLN, Persero).
The establishment of this switchgear plant is a part of the initiatives and efforts to develop domestic industries that will support the electricity sector in Indonesia, to meet the needs of domestic switchgear equipment and to export to the Southeast Asian and Asia Pacific markets, a release from CG said.
In his address, Gautam Thapar, Chairman, Avantha Group said: “The strong established relationship with PLN and Indonesia as a country has encouraged CG to establish the joint venture in Indonesia. CG believes that by bringing the leading edge technology and manufacturing expertise in Switchgear to Indonesia the relationship with PLN can further be strengthened and this will enhance the expertise in the sector and CG presence in Indonesia.”
PT CPSI’s AIS switchgear plant is located at Indonesia and has been commissioned with a total outlay of approximately $22.5 million, funded by shareholder equity and funding from local banks. The plant has capability for production of SF6 gas circuit breakers, lightning arresters and instrument transformers, at voltage levels of 70kV to 500kV.
