AatmNirbhar Bharat can help boost India’s exports

IEEMA Release | T&D India

The clarion call given by the Prime Minister for ‘AatmNirbhar Bharat or self-reliant India’ and ‘Vocal for Local’ is an opportunity to increase our global footprint, a release by apex industry body IEEMA said.

The Indian electrical equipment industry is strenuously working hand-in-hand with the government towards the AatmNirbhar mission and is not only capable of meeting domestic requirements, but also continue to export both to the developing and developed countries.

The Annual Convention 2020 of IEEMA which was themed as “AatmNirbhar Bharat” was inaugurated virtually by R. K. Singh, Union Minister of Power, New & Renewable Energy, and Skill Development & Entrepreneurship. More than 800 delegates were present virtually during the convention.

IEEMA’s first virtual exhibition, Digielec Bharat also got inaugurated by R.K. Singh during the convention held on September 23, 2020. Digielec Bharat begins on September 24, 2020 for a period of four days. A two day high-level conference titled “Transforming Business through Technology” is also being organized concurrently on September 24 and 25, 2020.

R.K. Singh urged “the domestic manufacturers should stop imports from countries which are of concern. The government is keeping a strict vigil on imports and will continue to examine such imported equipment with a magnifying glass for years. Our sector is very vulnerable to cyber-attacks. We have connected the whole country into one grid, you bring down one part and rest will collapse, hence we need to check all imports. There is a need of government-industry partnership in the sector. The government aspires to make the industry ’AatmNirbhar’ and I have set up a task force and given them the target of setting up manufacturing zones in the country. If we need to create jobs here then we need to stop spending our money outside the country, in China or in other countries.”

R.K. Chugh, President, IEEMA said, “It was impressive to hear Shri R. K. Singh motivating IEEMA membership to work on reverse engineering, local innovations and R&D so as to become the hub of manufacturing for global markets. It was very inspiring to know that he is creating a special zone for local manufacturing of items not being made in India at present.”

Anil Saboo, President Elect, IEEMA stated, “IEEMA themed its convention this year as “AatmNirbhar Bharat” to support the Government of India’s vision and Mission to make India self-reliant. R. K. Singh, cited that the economy has to be powerful for India to become stronger and this will be achieved by collaborative partnership between government and industries.”

Vijay Karia, Vice President, Designate, IEEMA mentioned, “The IEEMA Annual convention, graced with the presence of R. K. Singh was a bright spot in gloomy economic and weather conditions. The Government is very serious about partnering with the industry and IEEMA, to help grow the Make in India concept. Promises of land, fiscal and procurement support will hopefully set a path forward for rapid industrialization and innovative technologies. IEEMA is committed to lead the way for the electrical and electronics industry, focusing on renewable energy, e-vehicles and converging technologies for creating solutions for the infrastructure of India. Look forward to electrifying times.”
