Adani Power Transmission Ltd has acquired 100 per cent equity capital of Obra-C Badaun Transmission Ltd from bid process coordinator PFC Consulting Ltd.
OCBTL was incorporated on August 9, 2018 by PFCCL to build, own, operate and maintain the transmission project in Uttar Pradesh. The transmission scheme involves setting up evacuation infrastructure for the upcoming 2×660-mw Obra-C thermal power project of state government utility Uttar Pradesh Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Ltd (UPVUNL).
On December 3, 2018, Adani Transmission Ltd won the said transmission scheme under the tariff-based competitive bidding (TBCB) mode. The project will be developed on build, own, operate, maintain (BOOM) route.
The project, with an estimated outlay of Rs.870 crore (as per reliable reports), involves setting up of 765kV and 400kV lines aggregating 625 ckm, a 400kV GIS substation at Badaun, apart from other elements. The 765kV line, according to information available with T&D India, will be a LILO of the 765kV Anpara-D to Unnao single circuit line, at Obra-C thermal power station.
With this project, the cumulative transmission network of Adani Transmission Ltd will reach 13,548 ckm, out of which around 9,350 ckm are under operation.
This is the second intrastate transmission project for Adani Transmission in Uttar Pradesh. In June 2018, Adani Transmission had clinched the Ghatampur transmission scheme, involving around 900 ckm of transmission lines of 400kV and 765kV.
It may also be recalled that Power Grid Corporation of India recently made its debut in the intrastate power transmission space by winning the transmission project associated with the 2×660-mw Jawaharpur thermal power project of UPVUNL.
New subsidiary: In a regulatory filing, Adani Transmission Ltd announced that it has incorporated a wholly-owned subsidiary AEML Infrastructure Ltd (AIL) on December 12, 2018. The company has been incorporated for “transmission, distribution and supply of power and other infrastructure services relating thereto,” ATL said in the filing.
