Adani Transmission Ltd has received the Letter of Intent (LOI) from REC Transmission Projects Company Ltd to build, own, operate and maintain two transmission projects in Gujarat, under a concession period of 35 years.
Both projects won under the tariff-based competitive bidding (TBCB) mechanism are meant to evacuate power from solar and wind energy projects in the western state. The projects are as follows:
The project, “Lakadia Banaskantha Transco Ltd,” will comprise approximately 360 ckm of 765kV double-circuit line along with 765 kV bays at Lakadia and Banaskantha substations in Gujarat. This project is primarily being constructed to establish transmission system associated with long term applications from Gujarat’s wind and solar energy zone in Radhanesda. The transmission line to be constructed in this project shall be used to evacuate power to Lakadia Pooling station.
The project “Jam Khambaliya Transco Ltd” comprises approximately 40 ckm of 400kV doube-circuit line along with a 400kV substation at Jam Khambaliya in Gujarat. This project is primarily being constructed to establish transmission system associated with long term applications from Gujarat’s wind and solar energy zone in Jamnagar. The associated transmission line in the project shall be used to evacuate power generated by renewable energy generators in Jam Khambaliya region to Lakadia Pooling station.
Speaking on the occasion, Anil Sardana, MD & CEO, Adani Transmission Ltd said, “Both the projects present substantial shareholder value creation as they are significantly value accretive within a relatively short gestation period. It is also a great opportunity to continue our commitment to transmitting bulk green power within the country and catering to India’s climate goals.”
Adani Transmission Ltd (ATL) is the country’s largest private transmission company with a cumulative transmission network of more than 14,340 ckm, out of which more than 11,470 ckm is operational. This includes around 2,860 ckm in various stages of construction, a release from ATL said.
