International technology group ANDRITZ has received an order from NEEPCO to revamp the Kopili hydropower plant in Assam.
In a release ANDRITZ said that the order involves complete rehabilitation of the electromechanical equipment of the 200-mw Kopili hydropower plant located in Dima Hasao district of Assam.
The contract will be executed by the India hydro subsidiary of ANDRITZ, and is expected to be completed by the third quarter of 2023.
ANDRITZ’s scope of supply includes detailed design and engineering, manufacture, transportation to the project site, supervision of the assembly, erection, testing as well as commissioning of the entire electro-mechanical equipment to be installed in the powerhouse of Kopili hydroelectric plant. Also included is the training of NEEPCO’s personnel in design, engineering, operation, and maintenance of the plant, the release said.
This contract will be the second contract from NEEPCO to ANDRITZ, the first being the supply of the complete electro-mechanical equipment for the 110-mw greenfield hydropower project Pare HEP, which was awarded in 2011.
The award of this contract further strengthens ANDRITZ’s leading position on the Indian hydropower market, the release said.
According to information available with T&D India, two major contracts in recent history won by ANDRTIZ in India include that from Greenko Group what could be India’s largest pumped storage scheme, and one from JSW Energy for the Kutehr hydropower project in Himachal Pradesh.
