BHEL: Thermal power revives order inflow

 

A revival in thermal power orders has boosted the order inflow of Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) in the first half of FY24.

According to an investor presentation filed on stock exchanges, BHEL reported an order inflow of Rs.3,3479 crore in H1 (April to September) of FY24 that was nearly thrice the comparable level of Rs.12,310 crore in H1 of FY23.

 

“Fructification of diversification initiatives and revival of thermal power ordering led to robust order booking,” the presentation observed.

 

As of September 30, 2023, BHEL had an outstanding order book position of Rs.1,14,425 crore. Of this, the power sector accounted for 72 per cent, followed by “industry” with 24 per cent and exports with 4 per cent. The “industry” business segment typically includes all non-power generation activities like power transmission, railways, defence, etc.

It may also be mentioned that in FY24, BHEL successfully developed, tested and supplied a single-phase auto transformer of 500 MVA, 765kV rating without the use of an on-load tap changer (OLTC).
