Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) has received the letter of intent (LoI) from Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC) relating to a Rs.6,200-crore contract.
The contract involves the steam generator island package for DVC’s upcoming 2×660-MW Raghunathpur thermal power station (Phase-II) in Purulia district of West Bengal.
Won in an international competitive bidding process, the contract involves supply, erection, testing & commissioning of: steam generators and auxiliaries, electrostatic precipitator (ESP), flue gas desulphurization (FGD) systems, ash handling systems, along with electrical and C&I (controls & instrumentation). The contract also involves associated civil works, BHEL said in a stock exchange notification.
The facilities involved with the first unit of 660-MW are scheduled to be supplied within 48 months, followed by those of the second unit four months thereafter.
It may be noted that the letter of intent under discussion relates to the steam generator (boiler) package only. The turbine-generator package is likely to be have been tendered separately by DVC, though T&D India has no official confirmation to this effect.
The 660-MW units of the Raghnathpur (Phase-II) project are designed on supercritical parameters. DVC, it is leant is also putting up three ultra-supercritical power generation units of 800 MW each. While one would be commissioned at the new Durgapur thermal power station in West Bengal, two such will be part of the Koderma thermal power station (Phase-II) expansion project in Jharkhand.
