Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) has received an order valued at over Rs.5,500 crore for setting up a ultra-supercritical power unit in Haryana.
In a stock exchange communication, BHEL said that state power utility Haryana Power Generation Corporation Ltd (HPGCL) for setting up a 1×800-mw ultra supercritical expansion unit at the Deen Bandhu Chottu Ram Thermal Power Plant (DCRTPP) in Yamuna Nagar, Haryana.
The order covers supply of BTG (boiler, turbine and generator) package along with electrical, C&I (control and instrumentation), and balance of plant (BoP) packages. The mandate also includes erection and commissioning, along with civil works.
The order is scheduled for completion in 57 months, BHEL said, adding that the order value is exclusive of GST.
According to information available with T&D India, the DCRTPP currently has an installed capacity of 600 mw, coming from two coal-fired units of 300-mw each.
T&D India also estimates that with this order, BHEL has so far secured orders for 66 supercritical boilers and 61 supercritical turbine-generators, which is the highest in the country by any power equipment manufacturer.
Largest power sector order
It may be recalled that in mid-January 2024, BHEL had won an order for setting up a 3×800-mw greenfield thermal power plant for NLC India Ltd (formerly Neyveli Lignite Corporation Ltd) in Odisha. This order, valued at over Rs.15,000 crore is understood to be BHEL’s single-largest power sector-related order, won through competitive bidding. (Read more)
