Capacity-building in power distribution: TP-DDL signs MoU with NPTI

With a view to training personnel in the power distribution sector, Tata Power Delhi Distribution Ltd (TP-DDL) has signed a collaborative MoU with National Power Training Institute (NPTI).

The MoU aims at collaboration between the two organizations for training personnel in the field of power distribution, as well as for students pursuing courses on the emerging trends and technologies in the sector, a release by TP-DDL said.

The MoU was signed by Subir Verma, Chief HR, IR and EHS, Tata Power-DDL and Dr. Tripta Thakur, Director General, NPTI in the presence of senior officials from both the organizations at the NPTI headquarters in Faridabad, Haryana. (See photograph)

Main objective

The main objective of the MoU is to provide hands-on industry exposure to the students which will further help to groom them with the requisite skills and confidence for handling job roles in a discom. Apart from conducting combined programs including customized onsite programs and calendar training programs, Tata Power-DDL and NPTI will carry out joint research and development activities in the fields of smart grid technologies, electric vehicle and charging infrastructure, renewable energy, grid integration technologies cyber security, etc

 

Teaching modules

Tata Power-DDL will also help NPTI to develop and deliver exclusive training and teaching modules on various topics in line with the course content pertaining to Power Distribution for the courses offered by NPTI. Moreover, Tata Power-DDL will conduct customized online training programs exclusively for the students of NPTI spanning 4-5 days on niche topics pertaining to power distribution as per the need of the college curriculum to complement the courses offered by NPTI, a Central government institution under the power ministry.

 

Learning centre

Apart from its core business of power distribution Tata Power-DDL is also actively involved in various consultancy projects and capacity building training programs for power discoms both in India as well as abroad. Tata Power-DDL established its training centre known as CENPEID [Centre for Power Efficiency Distribution] in 2005 and has over the years established itself as the preferred learning and development centre for the power distribution sector in the country.
