Sterling Generators has planned to invest Rs.50-60 crore by 2020 in its Silvassa plant, with a view to improving its market share in the global genset business. The company’s 8-acre facility in Silvassa, one of the largest in Asia, was established in 2006.
Sterling Generators is one of the critical business verticals of the Sterling and Wilson conglomerate, led by Khurshed Daruvala (part of the Shapoorji Pallonji Group). It currently exports about 25 per cent of its diesel gensets due to its robust, global presence. It is also India’s second-largest supplier of HHP (high horse power) diesel gensets.
Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd has won the fourth successive order placed by Tamil Nadu power utility Tangedco for supercritical power generation equipment.
GE’s Power Services business, in consortium with NTPC GE Power Services Pvt Ltd (NGSL) and Gujarat State Electricity Corporation Ltd (GSECL), have announced the milestone results of a steam turbine modernization project at the Ukai power station in Gujarat. The project was completed on May 24, 2017, by utilizing GE’s latest modernization solutions, including its Advanced Steam Path (ASP) technology—part of the company’s Fleet360* portfolio, GE said in a recent release.
Denmark-headquartered Grundfos A/S, a leading global manufacturer of energy-efficient pumps, has announced the launch of its latest manufacturing facility at Dantali in Gujarat, run by its subsidiary Grundfos Pumps India Pvt. Ltd. The facility is spread across two acres and will supply stainless steel products, boosters, and box products to India’s western and northern regions. This new facility, envisioned on the ‘Make in India’ model, will also export stainless steel components to Grundfos’ global facilities in Europe, Americas and China.
With the revised letter of intent now in hand, Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd has commenced worked on building the 4,000-mw Yadadri supercritical thermal power plant for state utility Telangana State Power Generation Corporation Ltd (TSGENCO). The project is coming up at Damaracherla in Nalgonda district of Telangana.
Bangladesh India Friendship Power Company Pvt Ltd (BIFPC) has issued the notice to proceed (NTP) to EPC contractor Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd for the Maitree super thermal power project in Bangladesh. With this, the mega $1.5-billion order placed on BHEL in July 2016 has taken off. This incidentally is the largest international power project order won by BHEL.
BIFPC is an equal joint venture between NTPC Ltd and Bangladesh Power Development Board. The Maitree power project, equipped with two units of 660-mw each, is located at Rampal Upazila in Bagerhat district of Bangladesh. Read more
