Large hydropower projects, which mean hydropower projects of installed capacity 25 mw or more, will now be considered as part of renewable energy. The Union Cabinet recently approved a proposal to this effect. So far, hydropower projects of capacity up to 25 mw only were being considered as part of renewable energy. As a corollary, large hydropower projects would now be included as part of non-solar renewable purchase obligations (RPO). Hydropower projects of capacity up to 25 mw are termed as small hydropower (SHP) and are already eligible for non-solar RPOs.
Solar energy solutions provider Vikram Solar has been awarded with ‘Best Contribution in Solar Energy’ at the CBIP Awards 2019 for outstanding contribution to the nation in the development of renewable energy sector. The award was conferred upon Vikram Solar by the Minister of Power and New and Renewable Energy R. K. Singh.

GE Renewable Energy has been selected by renewable independent power producer ReNew Power to provide 120 GE 2.5-132 turbines for the Gadhsisa wind farm in Gujarat. The wind farm will have a total installed capacity of 300 mw, making it the largest full turnkey EPC project by GE Renewable Energy in India, GE said in a statement.
Waaree Energies has landed an EPC contract to build a 60-mw ground-mounted solar project in Vietnam. With this, Waaree has marked its entry not only in Vietnam but also in South East Asia, the company said in a press statement.
