Schneider Electric opens its First Smart Distribution Centre in India
Schneider Electric, on November 11, 2019, opened its first Smart Distribution Centre in India. The Smart Distribution Centre, located in the commercial hub of Mumbai, has been digitally transformed with Schneider Electric’s EcoStruxure architecture to be more energy efficient and provide real time access to information right across the supply chain. Early results from this digitization initiative are showing expected energy savings of 10 to 12 per cent and an increase in logistics efficiency of 5 per cent at the site.
Aditya Birla Group to form JV with MR Group for composite insulators

Grasim Industries Ltd, part of the Aditya Birla Group, has signed a definitive agreement to form a joint venture company (JVC) in India with Maschinenfabrik Reinhausen GmbH (MR) of Germany for the manufacturing and sale of composite hollow core insulators (CHCI) to serve the power transmission and distribution industry globally.

Sterlite Power to deploy robotic technology for OPGW stringing

Sterlite Power, in a release, said that it has pioneered robotic technology for the installation of optical ground wire (OPGW) on high voltage power transmission lines under energized (‘live-line’) conditions. For the first time in India, this method will be deployed to replace existing earth wire.
Tata Power DDL and IFC in agreement for energy storage study

Tata Power Delhi Distribution and World Bank Group member International Finance Corporation have joined hands to assess storage capacity requirement in Tata Power-DDL’s area for ensuring sustainable and reliable power distribution and to formulate a business model for storage deployment in distribution utilities, a release from Tata Power DDL said.
