UP government set to take over SEUPPTCL
The Uttar Pradesh government is set to take over the private transmission utility South East UP Power Transmission Company Ltd (SEUPPTCL) that operates a 765kV transmission utility in the northern state.
RITES helps Indian Railways cut power procurement costs

Indian Railways has been able to significantly cut its power procurement costs, thanks to the helpful intervention of RITES Ltd, a Central PSU under the ministry of railways. Addressing the media at a recent press conference in Mumbai, Rajeev Mehrotra, Chairman & Managing Director of RITES Ltd said that a complete study by a group of technical personnel from RITES Ltd was done to assess load requirement at various traction substations (TSS) of Indian Railways.
Government aims at smart prepaid meters in three years

In next three years electricity metering will go smart prepaid, obviating the need for electricity bills reaching the consumer. So need of the hour is to scale up manufacturing of smart prepaid meters and to bring down their prices, according R K Singh, Minister of state (in-charge) for power and new & renewable energy. Singh was addressing a meeting of meter manufacturers called by the power ministry on June 7, 2018.
IEEMA creates dedicated cell for North-East electrification

Indian Electrical and Electronics Manufacturers’ Association (IEEMA) has created a North East Cell as a nodal point to monitor the supply of equipment and material to various discoms in the region. IEEMA has included its senior officers at Guwahati, Kolkata and New Delhi to effectively facilitate the North East Cell. The aim of the cell is to facilitate 100 per cent household electrification on fast track in the states of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Tripura and Sikkim.

Power distribution utility BSES Rajdhani Power Ltd (BRPL) has launched a limited-period ‘Air Conditioner Replacement Scheme’ in partnership with leading air-conditioner manufacturers. It will enable consumers, residing in South and West Delhi, to exchange their old ACs with the new energy efficient rated 5-star rated ACs at a substantial discount of up to 47 per cent.
Railway business dominates KEC order book in FY19

The Railway Business of KEC International has dominated the company’s new order inflows during the ongoing FY19, up to May 14, 2018. Out of the total order inflow of Rs.1,392 crore during the said period, overhead railway electrification works and associated civil works accounted for Rs.928 crore, or 67 per cent.
Schneider Electric reaches agreement to acquire L&T-Electrical & Automation
