Schmersal India Pvt Ltd, a manufacturer of electromechanical safety and lift switchgear and systems, and a subsidiary of the Germany-based Schmersal Group, recently inaugurated its first global support IT centre in Pune.
In a span of less than a week, Bajaj Electricals has announced the winning of electrification orders worth nearly Rs.6,000 crore. These orders involving rural and urban electrification will be implemented in Uttar Pradesh. Both the orders are part of the national household electrification scheme, Saubhagya.
Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE)in collaboration with Delhi State Designated Agencies (SDA) and International Finance Corporation (IFC) conducted a training workshop for Energy Services Companies (ESCOs) on energy efficiency financing in New Delhi. The workshop was aimed at addressing the barriers like financing, Measurement & Verification (M&V) issues, contract disputes etc that is regularly faced by ESCOs.
According to Abhay Bakre, DG,BEE, while addressing the gathering,“India has immense energy efficiency potential which is left untapped. We believe that ESCOs can play a major role in implementing Energy Efficiency in India and ESCO business model is the need of the hour.”
The training workshop was attended by over 130 participants from ESCOs, Accredited Energy Auditors(AEAs), SDA officials, Energy Auditors and Energy Managers. The workshop further helped the participants to interact with experts and understand different aspects of energy efficiency projects. The workshop alsoprovided insights to ESCOs and energy professionals to shape and modify their business models which in turn will help them in contributing to the market development.
In India, industries (large and SMEs), buildings (commercial and government) and municipalities consume around 50 per cent total electricity consumption. There exists substantial energy saving potential in these sectors by adopting energy efficient technologies. BEE estimates that approx Rs.1,60,000 crore investment potential exists for energy efficiency implementation of which Rs.56,000 crore of investment potential exists in the industries, buildings and municipality sector.
Sterlite Power’s Optical Ground Wire (OPGW) facility in Silvassa has been granted a prestigious accreditation by National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL). This is for the first time that an OPGW laboratory in India has received this rating for testing OPGW cables, ACS Wires, Alloy Wires and Optical Fibres. With this rating, products manufactured by Sterlite Power in this facility can be used in user countries without the need for additional re-testing, resulting in cost savings, a release from Sterlite Power said.
The 13th edition of ELECRAMA that was held during March 10-14, 2018, at the India Expo Centre at Greater Noida, recorded footfalls of over 2.98 lakh, a release industry body and organizer IEEMA said. Over 1,200 exhibitors showcased their products and services at the biggest showcase of electrical and electronics manufacturers.
