Sterlite Power has won a power transmission concession worth $800 million in Brazil, it said in a statement. The 1,800-km long project was won in a reverse auction tender with State Grid of China, Engie Elecnor and Power Grid Corporation of India being contenders. Prepaid meter procurement moves to bidding stage

India’s plan to induct prepaid energy meters in its power distribution value chain has moved a step further with nodal Energy Efficiency Services Ltd (EESL) out in the market with a procurement tender. EESL, it may be recalled, had invited expressions of interest last month from potential domestic and international suppliers for supplying 10 million prepaid meters. Though EESL officials were unavailable for comment, industry sources suggest that the EOI exercise received encouraging response.

ABB tests 1,100kV UHVDC transformer for deployment in China

ABB has successfully tested the low and high voltage units of the world’s most powerful ultrahigh-voltage direct current (UHVDC) transformer. The +/-1,100 kV UHVDC transformer, developed and manufactured in close collaboration with State Grid Corporation of China (SGCC), has successfully passed a series of type tests, paving the way for the implementation of the Changji-Guquan UHVDC link, which will transmit power from the Xinjiang region in the Northwest, to Anhui province in eastern China, a release from ABB said.

PGCIL completes one section of Srinagar-Leh transmission line

Power Grid Corporation of India (PGCIL) has successfully completed and charged the 220kV single-circuit Leh-Khalsti line, which is part of the longer 220kV single-circuit Srinagar (Alusteng)-Leh transmission line. Along with the Leh-Khalsti line spanning 63km, two 220/66kV GIS substations—at Leh and Khalsti—have also been commissioned.
