CESL places Rs.44-crore order on Tata Motors for electric vehicles

Convergence Energy Services Ltd (CESL) has placed a letter of award in favor of Tata Motors for the procurement of electric vehicles worth Rs.44 crore.

CESL, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Energy Efficiency Services Ltd, in a release said that it would be procuring 300 EVs as part of the “Scaling-up Demand Side Energy Efficiency Sector Project” financed by an Asian Development Bank (ADB) line of credit to CESL.

 

The electric vehicles will have a base price of Rs.14.33 lakh, exclusive of GST.

 

The order is for 300 EVs, of length less than 4m and with a range of at least 250 km. CESL will work with Tata Motors to deploy these vehicles to government entities looking to change over to electric vehicles, the release said.

The contract in detail

The tender will be implemented in two schedules. Under the first, 300 cars with 3-year warranty will be procured at a base price of Rs.14,33,000 per unit, exclusive of GST. The second schedule will involve inland transportation, including loading, unloading, transfer to designated location, transit insurance, and other costs incidental to the delivery of vehicles. This will be done at a cost of Rs.21,000 per unit.
