India Grid Trust (IndiGrid), in a release, has said that a consortium of its subsidiaries has emerged L1 for an interstate power transmission project under the TBCB mode.
IndiGrid announced that a consortium of two of its wholly-owned subsidiaries “IndiGrid 1 Ltd” and “IndiGrid 2 Ltd”, had participated in the tariff-based bidding to establish transmission system for evacuation from renewable energy projects worth 1 GW in Osmanabad area in Maharashtra. The project cost is around Rs.170 crore.
Bidding process
Bid processing coordinator REC Power Development & Consultancy Ltd (RECPDCL) was entrusted with the bidding process of selecting a developer for the aforementioned project. Following the bidding process, and the reverse auction conducted on November 18, 2021, the consortium of IndiGrid 1 Ltd and IndiGrid 2 Ltd, quoting a levelized tariff of Rs.16.74 crore, was notified as L1 bidder for the project that will be developed on build, own, operate and maintain (BOOM) basis. IndiGrid said that it was awaiting the formal letter of intent from (RECPDCL).
Project Background
According to information available with T&D India, on May 28, 2020, RECPDCL incorporated a wholly-owned subsidiary “Kallam Transmission Ltd” to develop the aforementioned project. This subsidiary will be transferred to the successful developer that would be selected using the TBCB mode. Accordingly, the project SPV “Kallam Transmission Ltd” will be subsequently transferred to the consortium of IndiGrid 1 Ltd and IndiGrid 2 Ltd.
In the western region, a total of 28 GW of renewable energy capacity has been envisaged. Out of this, 2 GW of wind generation capacity has been identified in Osmanabad district of Maharashtra.
Of this 2 GW, it is learnt that 1 GW has been proposed for integration with the intrastate system while the balance 1 GW will be integrated with the interstate transmission system (ISTS). It is this ISTS component will be developed by Kallam Transmission Ltd.

Project Components
The major components of the transmission scheme are:
- 2x500MVA, 400/220kV substation near Kallam pooling station (PS)
- 1x125MVAr bus reactor at Kallam PS
- LILO of both circuits of Parli– Pune 400kV D/C line at Kallam PS
- New 50MVAr switchable line reactor at Kallam PS end of Kallam–Pune (GIS) 400kV D/C line
