One of our key businesses vertical is switchgear—both for industrial and domestic applications. We manufacture various industrial switchgear products under our industrial switchgear segment such as air circuit breaker, MCCBs, source changeover switch, control gear, fuse gear and isolators.
We also have several excellent switchgears such as on-load changeover switch/bypass switch, thermal overload relays, HRC fuse base and holder, IntelliPROTECT/ IntelliSMART, etc.
For domestic operations we have a wide range of products, such as premium range (Osafe), MCBs, distribution board, RCCB, isolator, MCB changeover, ACCL 1-phase and 3-phase, Oprotect.
Of the various manufacturing plants of HPL Electric, which ones specialize in industrial switchgear?
It is our manufacturing facility in Kundli, Haryana, which specializes in switchgear.
Tell us about the R&D activities of HPL Electric with respect to industrial switchgear. Do you also conduct switchgear testing in-house?
The tool room at Kundli is well equipped to set in-house component designing and tool designing with perfection in microns.
HPL products are tested at CPRI, ERDA, ERTL, NPL etc. according to Indian standards, whereas MCBs re-wireable switches and electronics Energy meters carry ISI marking. Further HPL products have approvals from CPWD state PWDs, MES, BSNL and many other institutional users.

Tell us about the various certifications that your facilities are equipped with.
Our manufacturing facilities and our products have been accredited with various national and international quality certifications. Further, all our manufacturing facilities have been accredited with management system certificates for compliance with ISO 9001 requirements by TUV-SUD South Asia Pvt Ltd and the British Standards Institution, India.
Further, our manufacturing facilities at Jabli (Himachal Pradesh), Gurugram (Haryana) and Karnal (Haryana) have been accredited with safety and environmental system certificates for compliance with ISO14001 requirements by TUV SUD South Asia Pvt Ltd. Additionally, our testing facility at Gurugram (Haryana) has been accredited by the NABL to follow ISO/IEC 17025:2005 in respect of general requirements for the competence of testing and calibration laboratories for electrical testing.
We appreciate that HPL Electric has a significant exports business. In terms of industrial switchgear, what are your leading export destinations?

What have been the recent advancements by HPL Electric in its leading industrial switchgear products like air circuit breakers, MCCBs, etc?
The latest product in ACBs is Intelliprotect, it is developed to meet high breaking capacity required for elevated electricity demand, to satisfy compact distribution panel size demanded in markets, to achieve 100% N-phase current conducting capacity on single phase load (304w line), and to increase users convenience by providing various accessories and connecting methods. Moreover, we provide total solutions for customers by developing a relay, to achieve absolute protective coordination, and to correspond with IT system.
MCCB is suitable for circuit protection in individual enclosures, switchboard, lighting and power panels as well as motor control centres. MCCB is designed to protect systems against overload and short circuit up to 65KA with full range of accessories. TAB MCCBs are enabled with advanced safety measures and protection.
Very briefly, please tell us how your offerings in domestic switchgear (MCB, RCCB, ELCB, etc) complement your other products like wires, wiring devices, lighting, meters, etc, for the residential and commercial sector.

HPL already provides total solutions in industrial switchgear segment. We are continuously innovating and developing new and smarter products to cater to a wide range of applications and operations. We have come up with some innovative switchgear recently – IntelliPROTECT, IntelliSMART, TAB MCCB, microprocessor MCCB, AV ATS, thermal overload relays. R&D is a continuous process and we believe that to stay competitive we need to regularly update our product range and come out with new products.
