Ducon Infratechnologies Ltd, in a stock exchange, filing said that it has emerged as the lowest bidder (L1) for an FGD tender issued by NTPC.
The filing said that Ducon has emerged L1 in a reverse auction for a flue gas desulphurization (FGD) system to be installed at NTPC’s Barauni thermal power project (Stage II). The 2×250-mw coal-fired power plant is located in Begusarai district, Bihar.
This is one of the projects directly bid by Ducon Infratechnologies, the filing said, adding that the expected value of the order is in the range of Rs.500-600 crore.
With respect to coal-fired power plants, Ducon is actively bidding for both FGD and MHS (material handling systems). “In the case of FGD Projects, the company is bidding directly as well as jointly with other EPC companies and remains hopeful to win some more of these projects as and when they are decided,” the filing said.
The Barauni thermal power plant, was earlier owned by state government utility Bihar State Power Generation Company Ltd. Effective December 15, 2018, it was acquired by Central PSU NTPC Ltd. The total capacity of the Barauni plant is 720 mw coming from two operational units of 110-mw (Stage I) and two under-construction units of 250-mw, each (Stage II).
Unique FGDs by Ducon
Mumbai-based Ducon has to its credit India’s first seawater FGD system installed for the 2×250-mw Dahanu coal-fired power plant in Maharashtra. This coal-fired power plant, earlier owned by Reliance Energy Ltd (RInfra, ADAG Group) is now part of the Adani Group.
Ducon is learnt to also have provided India’s first wet limestone FGD system, which also produces saleable gypsum as by-product. This system was installed at the 2×600-mw Udupi thermal power station in Karnataka. This imported-coal based plant is also owned by Adani Group.
