Ducon Infratechnologies Ltd will provide its proprietary Flue Gas Desulphurization (FGD) technology for a state government-owned power plant in Rajasthan.
In a release, Ducon said that it will supply FGD technology for a 2×660-MW FGD package for Suratgarh supercritical thermal power station (Unit 7 & 8) in Rajasthan. The contract has been awarded to an unnamed EPC organization that Ducon has partnered with, the release said.
This project was jointly bid by Ducon’s affiliate, US-based Ducon Technologies Inc with a leading EPC organisation in the Indian subcontinent.
Ducon will provide its FGD execution expertise to the project from concept to commissioning. The anticipated value of the order for Ducon will be in the range of Rs.150–Rs.200 crore.
This is the second coal clean technology/FGD project for Ducon Infratechnologies in the last four months. In January 2022, it had received coal clean technology/FGD project order for 2×600-MW Singareni thermal power plant (Stage 1) in Telangana, for a similar order value of Rs.150-200 crore.
$20 billion opportunity
According to Aron Govil, Managing Director, Ducon, “Indian companies will spend an approximate $20 billion on fossil fuel clean technologies/greening of fossil fuels and green energy. With its proprietary technologies, Ducon is uniquely positioned to leverage this transformational opportunity both in terms of intellectual property and execution capability. We are aggressively aiming to garner a significant share of India’s rapid transition to clean coal/green coal.”
