Electrical Research & Development Association (ERDA), which is already providing a host of testing services to the renewable energy sector, is planning to expand the scope of its services, the Vadodara-headquartered agency said in a press statement.
ERDA is already providing various services as part of its renewable energy integration portfolio. Some such services are: power system studies, power quality measurement, mitigation solutions & integration studies provided through Mi-Power, ETAP, EMTP-RV, etc.
ERDA is constantly working in the renewable sector and will be coming up with new range of services as per the requirement of the industries as well as Central and state utilities in the country, ERDA said.
Highlighting its role in Gujarat’s wind energy sector, ERDA noted that last year, ERDA executed power quality measurement activity for a 250-mw wind power plant at Bhuj in Gujarat, where requirements with respect to harmonics, flicker and direct current injection were checked as per Central Electricity Authority (CEA) guidelines.
Gujarat added 1,468 mw of new wind energy capacity during FY20, making a significant contribution to the country’s total.
In its release, ERDA also noted the dominant role of Gujarat in India’s wind energy industry. The western state saw the installation of 1,468 mw of new wind energy plants during FY20. Thus, Gujarat accounted for a predominant share in all-India installations that stood at 2,118 mw in the same year. “Gujarat has emerged as a pioneering leader in becoming a role model of India’s electricity transition,” ERDA said in the statement.
India is blessed with immense renewable energy resources in general and wind energy resources in particular. Harnessing the potential of wind energy resources in changing the energy scenario in the country is of paramount importance to achieve India’s commitment to achieve a target of renewable power generation of 175 GW by 2022, ERDA said. As of March 31, 2020, India’s cumulative installed wind power capacity stood at 37, 444 mw.
“ERDA with its dedicated portfolio of services in the renewable sector has contributed its part in the growth. ERDA takes pride in being part of this achievement by the Indian renewable sector and looks forward to making many such meaningful contributions in the future,” the testing agency noted.
