As with every edition, ELECRAMA 2020 is a keenly-awaited event in the electrical equipment industry. What is going to the theme of ELECRAMA 2020?
This is the 14th edition of ELECRAMA and we are celebrating electrifying 30 years with the key theme of ELECRAMA 2020 as Global Platform for Innovation & Technology. ELECRAMA is a platform to connect the world with Indian industry in respect of technology, new trends and innovation for future energy transition. It is also a stage where all global leaders can meet and share their ideas to develop cost effective solutions for the world. India is expected to become the fifth largest Economy in the world by the end of 2025 and we invite our global counterparts to be partners in our growth story.
We observe that ELECRAMA 2018 was held at India Expo Centre (Greater Noida) for the first time, and that ELECRAMA 2020 would be at the same venue. What advantages do you see over older venues like Bengaluru and Mumbai?
India Expo Mart has state-of-the-art, multi-functional venue with a rare combination of technology merged with world-class facilities and safety standards that suits our requirement for a world-class exhibition like ELECRAMA. India Expo Mart has more than 1,10,000 sqm exhibition space, banquet cum conference hall, restaurants, meeting rooms—all furnished with the most recent in telecommunications, multimedia and high speed connectivity—under one roof, which makes it a world class infrastructure for hosting ELECRAMA 2020, the world s largest energy event.
How do you expect ELECRAMA 2020 to fare in terms of total number of exhibitors, number of participating countries (as exhibitors and visitors), total footfalls, etc?
This year participation for ELECRAMA 2020 is from more than 120 countries with 1,300+ exhibitors including 450 foreign exhibitors. We are expecting a footfall of more than 3,50,000 during the whole exhibition. And for this we have already started promotions in different countries.
Recently, the overseas promotion of ELECRAMA 2020 overseas was initiated by me along with Mr. Vipul Ray, Vice President, IEEMA and Mr. Ajay Mahajan, Head – Trade Fairs, in right earnest by organizing Doing Business with India networking session on the sidelines of the Middle East Electricity exhibition (Dubai, March 5-7, 2019) and also at the Hannover Messe, (Germany, April 1-5, 2019).
With every edition of ELECRAMA, we see India’s power grid getting increasingly digital. Please discuss how ELECRAMA 2020 would be addressing the “digital grid”.
Winds of change are in motion. The electricity domain is getting intertwined with digital/Internet technology (including IoT and AI), Industry 4.0, energy storage, transportation electrification and evolution of next gen consumer behaviour. It is thus set to undergo a metamorphosis.
ELECRAMA for long has been focused on relevance to its constituencies by providing relevant showcasing of product and technology as well as strengthening the knowledge quotient by a suite of concurrent and professionally managed events that feature some of the world’s renowned experts and thought leaders.
ELECRAMA 2020 also introduces a couple of new initiatives and conferences that reaches out to some of the key constituents of the global electricity business.
What would be some of the features of ELECRAMA 2020, which you feel would be unprecedented in the history of ELECRAMA?
The power sector in India is at an inflexion point. Disruptions in technology are rapidly transforming energy sector. The thrust on renewable sources, power storage and smart technologies have changed the paradigm. Keeping in perspective of this transformation, ELECRAMA 2020 now show case future energy transition till 2030 including power transmission and distribution encompass the complete electricity ecosystem including generation, power electronics, renewables, electromobility, automation, energy storage, railways and mass transit, nuclear energy and defence.
Knowledge sharing is one of the primary objectives of ELECRAMA and forums such as CEO Summit (for CXOs); Engineer Infinite (for budding talent); Network to Networth (finance for the electrical industry), energy storage and eMobility, WUS (World Utility Summit), eTechnxtetc are other attractions.
Global participation for focused pavilions on rail electrification; Power PSUs; MSME; Industrial Transformation by Industry 4.0, lighting and electrical equipment on low voltage side for realty would be the key features of ELECRAMA 2020 and unprecedented in the event’s history.
ELECRAMA 2020 also marks the completion of 30 years of this mega event. Tell us in brief how you see this long journey.
There have been 13 editions of ELECRAMA prior to this one. And each of them has been bigger and better than the previous one. ELECRAMA has always been special for the electrical and power industry in India since its inception in 1990.
Starting from a small area of 2500 square meter in Godrej factory to the largest and most modern exhibition venue with gross area exceeding 110,000 sqm, what a momentous 30 years these have been!
ELECRAMA has been built brick by brick by our earlier IEEMA Team and it has reached the stature of being the largest multi-dimension show for global energy and electrical industry covering all energy-related sectors including the power T&D segment.
IEEMA has constantly endeavoured to add value and evolved the show to meet the expectation of the industry in this fast changing environment. This constant adaptation ensures that exhibitors and visitors both are able to get value while investing time and resources.
ELECRAMA 2020 this time will undergo a complete Digital transformation and will be with full modern facilities for all the visitors, exhibitors and stakeholders to explore their business & Meetings.
We readily observe that ELECRAMA has taken the Indian electrical equipment industry to the world and has also brought the world to India. How do you view ELECRAMA as a launch pad for foreign companies eyeing the Indian market?
ELECRAMA, organized by IEEMA, brings together the world’s electrical industries where foreign exhibitors can meet and find the potential partner in their own sectors in different events RBSM, ETechnxt and WUS. They also interact with other countries government bodies and collaborate for business opportunity which increases the economy of the country.
ELECRAMA 2020 exhibition provide a strong forum and international platform for knowledge sharing in the form of innovation, technical conclaves and industry summits. The exhibition offers insights on key factors like latest technology, international network, export, energy storage revolution in business technical collaboration and building partnership through global value chains to the participants.
We understand that bookings for ELECRAMA 2020 have begun. What has been the response thus far? ELECRAMA 2018, as we recall, was sold out in three months. Do you expect ELECRAMA 2020 to break this record as well?!
Yes, it is going to break all past records and shall truly become a global platform. We have started our registration process and we are getting very good response from the industry, international associations and esteemed leading companies and MSME units from around the world.
