In a first for the state, Madhya Pradesh Power Transmission Company Ltd (MPPTCL) has energized an EHV line using underground cable.
In a release, state power utility MPPTCL said that the state’s first 132kV underground line has been energized in the capital city of Bhopal.
The 132kV double-circuit line measuring around 2.1 km runs from the 132kV Chambal substation Bhopal to the 132kV Subhash Nagar receiving substation (RSS) of the upcoming Bhopal Metro.
This is the first time that EHV underground cable technology has been deployed in the state’s power transmission sector.
Further, the 132kV cable was remotely energized from MPPTCL’s Bhopal SCADA centre, using Human Machine Interface (HMI) technology.
MPPTCL also highlighted that Madhya Pradesh power minster Pradyuman Singh Tomar congratulated all employees of MPPTCL on this unique achievement.
Metro Rail
According to information independently available, Madhya Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (MPMRCL) – a joint venture between the Central government and the Madhya Pradesh government – is implementing two metro rail projects — one each at Bhopal and Indore.

The Bhopal Metro (Phase I) will have two lines (designated as “Orange Line” and “Blue Line”) together covering 28 elevated stations. It aims to offer a rapid transit system to the capital city Bhopal.
