REC Power Development & Consultancy Ltd (RECPDCL), a wholly owned subsidiary of REC Ltd, handed over a project SPV (special purpose vehicle) “Tumkur-II REZ Power Transmission Ltd” to G R Infraprojects Ltd (GRIL) on September 3, 2024, at Gurugram.
G R Infraprojects Ltd emerged as the transmission service provider (TSP) through the tariff-based competitive bidding (TBCB) process conducted by bid process coordinator RECPDCL for development of above transmission project on build, own, operate & transfer (BOOT) basis.
The SPV was handed over by T.S.C. Bosh, CEO, RECPDCL, to Saurabh Kaushik, Head (Business Development & Strategy), G R Infraprojects Ltd in the presence of senior officials of RECPDCL, GRIL and Central Transmission Utility of India Ltd. (See featured photograph)
The interstate transmission system (ISTS) scheme known as “Transmission scheme for integration of Tumkur-II REZ in Karnataka” is targeted for implementation in 24 months.The project covers establishment of 400/220kV, 4×500 MVA pooling station near Tumkur, Karnataka and 27.2 km of 400kV line along with associated works.
As already reported by T&D India on August 9, 2024, G R Infraprojects Ltd had emerged L1 for this scheme during the e-reverse auction (e-RA) conducted on August 6, 2024.
For GRIL, this is the third ISTS scheme, won under the TBCB mode, after Rajgarh Transmission Ltd (now commissioned) and Pachora Power Transmission Ltd, which was formally awarded on May 30, 2024.
