GE T&D India has reported a nearly 7 per cent year-on-year increase in its order inflow during the first quarter (April to June) of FY22.
In an investor presentation, GE T&D India said that it received order inflows worth Rs.472.30 crore in Q1 of FY22 as against Rs.443.20 crore in the same quarter of FY21.
Order inflows during Q1 of FY22 were impacted by “shift of market due to COVID-19,” the presentation observed.
Some of the key orders booked in Q1 of FY22 were:
- Six 500MVA 765kV power transformers from Power Grid Corporation of India under the Transmission System Strengthening Scheme for evacuation of power from Solar Energy Zones in Rajasthan (8.1 GW) under Phase-II
- 220/33 kV air insulated substation (AIS) at Dagapela from Bhutan Power Corporation Ltd
- Replacement of 400kV and 220kV equipment at Raichur Thermal Power Plant from Karnataka Power Corporation Ltd
- 400kV switchyard including 400kV, 150 MVA power transformers at Bikaner in Rajasthan, from Renew Power Ltd
Order Backlog
The order backlog, as of June 30, 2021, stood at around Rs.4,349.40 crore. Around 63 per cent of this outstanding order book position came from private sector clients. State government utilities accounted for 20 per cent while Central utilities and PSUs made up for the remaining 17 per cent.

Projects commissioned
Major equipment commissioned during Q1 of FY22 included a 765kV Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) substation for PGCIL at Phagi in Rajasthan. This was the first GE-make 765kV GIS, the presentation said. For the same client, GE T&D India also commissioned a 765kV air insulated substation and a 400kV/220kV GIS at Bhuj in Gujarat.
Full operations resume
GE T&D India also said that all its manufacturing sites were now fully operational. These include three units in Tamil Nadu – Padappai, Pallavaram and Hosur – and the transformer factory at Vadodara in Gujarat. The three units in Tamil Nadu were affected by a nine-day lockdown in Q1 of FY22, while the Vadodara factory was fully functional throughout the given period. Besides, all its 73 project sites are now fully operational, GE T&D India said.
