Gensol Engineering Ltd has announced the winning of a major EPC contract to build a ground-mounted solar power plant for state utility Maharashtra State Power Generation Company Ltd (Mahagenco).
In a stock exchange communication, Gensol said that it will build a 62-mw (AC) grid-connected solar power plant using crystalline solar photovoltaic technology for Mahagenco. The project is located at Paras, Balapur taluka, Akola district, Maharashtra.
Valued at Rs.301.54 crore (inclusive of taxes), the contract is scheduled for completion in 12 months’ time.
This solar power plant by Mahagenco is in response to the “Flexibility in Generation of Thermal Power station through Bundling with Renewable Energy” policy issued by the Union ministry for new & renewable energy (MNRE) in April 2022, Gensol said.
Beyond the primary solar PV power plant setup, Gensol’s responsibilities extend to establishment of the associated HT overhead transmission line/underground cable, supplemented with all essential electrical equipment. It also encompasses the creation of bays culminating at the point of interconnection at the 220kV bays at Mahagenco’s Paras substation. Additionally, Gensol is entrusted with a 5-year O&M contract of the solar power plant and its associated evacuation mechanism.
Gensol will be equipping the upcoming solar plant with solar trackers, with a view to optimizing energy production. It is pertinent to note that in March 2023, Gensol acquired Scorpius Trackers, an established name in the solar tracker field.
