The Power Infrastructure & Renewable Energy (PIRE) business unit of Godrej & Boyce Mfg Co Ltd has commissioned what is believed to be the first-ever 400kV gas-insulated switchgear (GIS) substation in Bihar.
In a release, Godrej & Boyce said that the substation will connect the adjacent towns of Naubatpur and Jakkanpur (both in Patna district) on a state-level grid through 400kV, 220kV, 132kV and 33kV transmission lines.
The new installation, with a transformation capacity of 1,000 MVA, will empower Patna district with easy access to reliable quality power, Godrej & Boyce said in the release.
This is the first ever 400kV GIS substation in the state of Bihar, the release noted.
The substation will cater to power evacuation requirements of NTPC Nabinagar power station and enhance the transformation by driving growth in the Industrial landscape in and around Naubatpur and Jakkanpur. This substation will ensure the availability of reliable power to the emerging Industrial& residential sectors in the area. It will potentially increase the industrial growth opportunities by transmitting electricity to the emerging Industrial establishments.
