Apex industry body IEEMA has planned to hold a webinar on August 31, 2020 to discuss the benefits of the National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (NAPS), recently formulated by the Central government.
The Government of India recently amended the procedure of inducting apprentices under its National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (NAPS). The process has also been made simpler and employer-friendly, apart from making it mandatory for employers to engage between 2.5 per cent to 10 per cent of the employee strength in any trade/job role.
IEEMA, as part of its CSR activity, has joined hands with Power Sector Skill Council (PSSC) to promote the cause of apprenticeship.
In a letter addressed to its members, IEEMA’s Director General has stated that PSSC has proposed a detailed scheme to IEEMA for engagement with member organisations enabling them to hire skill trained certified and readily employable apprentices based on individuals needs that will also enable to harness the benefits available under NAPS, besides meeting the statutory obligation under Apprenticeship Act.
A meeting has been called to discuss these benefits, where PSSC CEO will share a brief on the proposals and educate members on how IEEMA members could take advantage of hiring the skilled apprentices whilst availing benefits for their companies.
The meeting, through webinar, will be held on Monday, August 31, 2020, from 15:00 hours onwards.
