Central Electricity Authority (CEA) and CEEW’s Centre for Energy Finance (CEEW-CEF) have launched “India Renewables Dashboard” that aims to provide detailed operational information on renewable energy projects in India.
This dashboard is freely accessible to policymakers, developers, financiers, and the public. It was launched at the hands of Sandesh Kumar Sharma, Member (Planning), CEA.
The dashboard can be accessed here.
The dashboard, supported by the Shakti Sustainable Energy Foundation, captures daily generation data at the state, regional and national levels for the aggregate 93 GW of installed renewable energy (RE) capacity in India. It also captures this data at a plant level for a subset of projects.

Previously, such data required manual aggregation and was not easily accessible. The India Renewables Dashboard addresses this challenge by automating the process of updating daily RE generation.
Further, users can download the data in multiple formats and conduct their own customized analyses. This will allow them to gain invaluable insights for improving project implementation, infrastructure planning and power generation forecasting in the renewables sector.
Some gleanings from India Renewables Dashboard*
- Total solar power generation on April 21, 2021, was 190.4 million kwh, accounting for 59.3 per cent of total generation from all renewable energy sources.
- Wind power generation on April 21, 2021, was 110.7 million kwh, accounting for a similar share of 34.5 per cent.
- Over the past 12 months, the “highest solar day” was April 1, 2021 when 216.5 million kwh of electricity was generated.
- Likewise, the “highest wind day” was August 12, 2020 with 444.5 million kwh of generation.
