The first phase of the Intrastate Green Energy Corridor that is expected to be completed by March 2023 stands commissioned to the extent of over 85 per cent, as of end-October 2022.
According to an official government release, as of October 31, 2022, a total of 8,651 ckm of transmission lines and 19,558 MVA of substation capacity stood commissioned under the Intrastate GEC. The total quantum of infrastructure envisaged under this project is 9,700 ckm of transmission lines and 22,600 MVA of substation capacity.
Hence, with respect to transmission lines, the completion stands at 89 per cent while that for transformation capacity is around 87 per cent.
It is also learnt that in calendar year 2022 (up to October 31, 2022), 183 ckm of transmission lines and 4,930 MVA of substation capacity were commissioned under Intrastate GEC (Phase I)
Intrastate GEC (Phase I) is being implemented in the states of Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Rajasthan and Gujarat. With an estimated outlay of Rs.10,142 crore which includes Central financial assistance of Rs.4,057 crore. The objective of this scheme is to help evacuation of 24 GW of renewable energy capacity.
It may be mentioned that the Intrastate GEC (Phase I) is actually the second component of the Interstate Green Energy Corridor (capacity: 3,200 ckm of transmission lines and 17,000 MVA of substations) that was commissioned in March 2020 and is helping in evacuation of 6 GW of renewable energy.
