ITI wins solar streetlight mandates in Bihar

 

 

ITI Ltd has received letters of intent worth Rs.37.50 crore from Bihar Renewable Energy Development Authority (BREDA) for installation of solar streetlight systems in the eastern state.

In a release, ITI said that its Naini Unit has received an LoI for design, supply, installation, testing, and commissioning with comprehensive maintenance contract (CMC for 5 years) including remote monitoring system (RMS) of 2,800 solar streetlight systems from DPRO (District Panchayati Raj Officer) Katihar amounting to Rs.8.58 crore under the Mukhyamantri Gramin Solar Street Light Yojana.

Similarly the Naini Unit itself has secured another LoI for design, supply, installation, testing, and commissioning with 5-year CMC, including remote monitoring system (RMS) of 9,440 solar street light systems from DPRO Katihar amounting to Rs.28.94 crore under Mukhyamantri Gramin Solar Street Light Yojana.

These systems are to be installed under the supervision of BREDA. The major components of the solar street light systems are solar PV module, solar batteries, LED luminaries, mounting structures, and balance of system (BOS).

Naini Unit

ITI Ltd’s Naini Unit in Uttar Pradesh is already manufacturing solar panels which can harness solar power up to 400W. In terms of yearly production, the unit manufactures solar panels, which can harness 18 MW of solar energy that comes to around 55,000 panels per year. With the enhanced capacity of 500 MW, the unit will start manufacturing around 15,00,000 panels per year, ITI said in the release.
