KEC International Ltd has won an order for building a 220kV substation for a petroleum refinery owned by public sector undertaking (PSU).
In a release announcing the winning of series of new orders aggregating Rs.1,313 crore, the Mumbai-headquartered global infrastructure EPC company said that it has been mandated to build a 200kV GIS substation for a PSU refinery project in India.
This is the first substation order for KEC International, placed by a PSU refining company, the release said.
Within the power T&D sector, KEC has won an order to build a 500kV power transmission line in Thailand, apart from a mandate to construct a 132kV transmission line (and associated substations) in Nepal.
In the relatively new solar business, KEC has secured a domestic order for a 500-mw solar photovoltaic project. This is KEC’s largest order in the domestic solar business, the company said.
These new orders have taken KEC International’s cumulative order inflow in FY23 so far, to around Rs.14,500 crore, up around 20 per cent from the comparable level in FY22.

Refocusing on solar
According to Vimal Kejriwal, MD & CEO, KEC International Ltd, “We are delighted with the new order wins, especially our largest order in the solar business to build a 500 mw solar PV power plant in India. In line with the Government’s thrust on green hydrogen and renewables, such as solar, we are now refocusing on this business. With the substation order in T&D, we have now diversified our customer base to include non-utility clients, in addition to the current power utilities. The T&D orders in East Asia Pacific and SAARC have further strengthened our presence in these international markets. With these orders, our YTD order intake stands at around Rs.14,500 crore, a robust growth of about 20 per cent vis-à-vis last year.”
