The Power Transmission & Distribution (PTD) business of Larsen & Toubro has won a clutch of orders, including one to build a 220kV line in the Ladakh region.
In a stock exchange filing, Larsen & Toubro said that its PTD division of L&T Construction, the construction arm of Larsen & Toubro Ltd, has won several orders in the domestic and international markets.
One order is for construction of a 220kV power transmission line associated with system strengthening in the Ladakh region. “The design and execution of this system involves traversing avalanche prone, hilly terrains and ice loading of conductors,” the filing said.
Another turnkey order has been received for urban power distribution in Ayodhya city in Uttar Pradesh, under the Centrally-sponsored Integrated Power Development Scheme (IPDS).

Overseas mandates
In Dubai city, an order to design, supply, construct, install, test, and commission a 132/11kV substation with associated cable works has been received.
Additionally, two transmission line packages have been secured in Africa.
A package involving supply and construction of a new Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) substation and associated substation extensions has been won in Thailand. These works will enhance the transmission system security and support the rising demand for electricity in the upper northern parts of the country, the filing added.
(Note: L&T has not specified the value of the aforementioned power T&D orders. However, together with a contract won by its Factories business, the aggregate value of the orders is in the range of Rs.1,000 crore to Rs.2,500 crore)
