Larsen & Toubro, in a release, said that its power transmission & distribution (PTD) business has won an EPC order to undertake works under the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS) in Uttar Pradesh.
The release elaborated that the PTD business will undertake works for the development of infrastructure under RDSS. The scope of this “loss reduction” package includes asset mapping using Geospatial Information System (GIS).
This order is among the several domestic and international EPC orders that the PTD business was awarded.
The orders include an EPC mandate to build a 90-mw floating solar plant on the Omkareshwar Dam Reservoir in Madhya Pradesh. This water body, located in Khandwa district of the state, does not see much change in water level throughout the year and is emerging as one of the largest floating solar parks in the world, the release said.
In the overseas market, L&T’s PTD Business has received an order for establishing 400kV and 225kV transmission lines in North Africa, apart from a mandate to build a 132kV substation in the coastal town of Bintulu in Sarawak, Malaysia.

The L&T release has not specified the value of the orders discussed above. However, the company has indicated that the aggregate value of these orders is in the range of Rs.1,000 crore to Rs.2,500 crore.
