Marsons Ltd has announced its entry into the renewable energy sector by way of manufacturing specialized equipment and also undertaking EPC contracts of solar power generation plants.
In a release, Marsons said that its primary focus in the renewable energy sector would be towards supply of special transformers that are used in solar and wind power plants. To this effect, the company is in the process of expanding its transformer range to include inverter-duty transformers and generation step up (GSU) transformers.
The company will incur capex of Rs.2.50 crore towards machinery and prototype development over the next three months, a release by Marsons said.
“This will open up a significant opportunity for the company with the potential of contributing 30-40 per cent to the company’s total revenue by FY27, the Kolkata-headquartered company said.
Solar EPC order
It may be mentioned that on September 26, 2024, the company had announced the receipt of a letter of intent (LoI) from from NACOF OORJA to develop 150-MW (AC) grid-interactive ground-mounted solar PV power generation capacity coming from multiple PV plants across different locations in Rajasthan. The project is being executed for Rajasthan Renewable Energy Corporation Ltd (RRECL) under the KUSUM scheme in order to provide daytime power to agricultural consumers. The total value of the order is around Rs.675 crore and it will be executed with technical support from Aditya Clean Systems (P) Ltd. The execution timeline is 12-18 months, Marsons said in a stock exchange notification.
About this letter of intent, Marsons said that the project is currently at a very preliminary stage. Marsons will first have a build a 2-MW plant as specified in the letter of intent before the company receives confirmation on the overall order.
Even while the project is currently still at the LoI stage and carries a risk of cancellation, it certainly marks the start of another vertical for the company, Marsons said.
