Megha Engineering & Infrastructures Ltd (MEIL) has won an intrastate power transmission scheme in Madhya Pradesh, under the tariff-based competitive bidding (TBCB) route.
According to information available with T&D India, this marks MEIL’s entry in the intrastate power transmission development business. MEIL is a relatively new entrant in the power transmission development space and has to its credit so far an interstate transmission scheme (ISTS) project in north India..
In a stock exchange filing, bid process coordinator REC Power Development & Consultancy said that the project special purpose vehicle “MP Power Transmission Package-I Ltd” has been transferred to the successful bidder Megha Engineering & Infrastructures Ltd, on January 21, 2023.
MEIL was selected as the successful developer under the TBCB modality. The project SPV will be responsible for development of intrastate transmission works in Madhya Pradesh. The detailed project scope is not yet available.
T&D India learns that the overall project for development of intrastate power transmission network in Madhya Pradesh has been divided into two packages. RECPDCL is the bid process coordinator for both the packages, to be developed under the TBCB route.
While one package has been awarded to MEIL (as discussed in this story), the other package, housed under “MP Power Transmission Package-II Ltd” was awarded to Adani Transmission Ltd in November 2021. This project, expected to commission in 24 months, includes construction of around 870 km of 220kV and 132kV transmission lines along with associated 18 power substations of cumulative transmission capacity of 2,736 MVA. The project aims to facilitate overall improvement of power supply position in Madhya Pradesh.
