Madhya Pradesh Power Transmission Company Ltd (MPPTCL), in a release, announced that it has newly energized a railway traction feeder for supporting railway operations in the Katangi region.
The Madhya Pradesh utility said that it has constructed a railway traction feeder for South East Central Railway (SECR) for smooth operation of railway trains in the Katangi area falling in the state’s Balaghat district.
After due inspection and testing, this RTS feeder line, built with a cost of around Rs.12 crore, has been charged successfully, MPPTCL said.
According to Deepak Joshi, Chief Engineer, MPPTCL, the demand for a 132kV traction feeder on the Balaghat-Katangi section had come from South East Central Railway, with a view to ensuring smooth rail operations.

Additional power supply source
MPPTCL has provided power supply through a total of 47 towers to this 11.5-km feeder running from the 132kV Katangi substation to the Katngi railway traction substation (TSS).
With the commissioning of this traction feeder, one more power supply has now become available for SECR’s Balaghat-Katangi section. Prior to this new feeder line, Balaghat-Katangi section was operated from MPPTCL’s 132kV Lalbarra substation through the 132kV feeder to the Samanpur railway TSS.
With the construction of this new RTS feeder about 60km of Balaghat—Katangi—Tirodi railway section will derive benefit by way of reliable, interrupted and quality power supply, MPPTCL said.
