Madhya Pradesh Power Transmission Company Ltd (MPPTCL) has commissioned a new power transformer at a 220kV substation in Pithampur.
In a release, the state power transmission utility said that it has commissioned a new 50 MVA additional power transformer at the 220kV Pithampur Sector-3 substation at the industrial area of Indore.
This new transformer, set up with an estimated cost of Rs.6.40 crore, will help consumers in the Indore industrial area to get quality power profile with proper voltage profile.
With the commissioning of this transformer, the total transformation capacity of the Pithampur Sector-3 substation has increased to 759 MVA.
MPPTCL supplies electricity to the Indore industrial area from the Pithampur Sector-3 through its 18 feeders of 33kV. This is also the first substation in Madhya Pradesh having the highest number of 132/33kV transformers have been installed — at five.

With the new transformer at Pithampur Sector-3 substation, the total transformation capacity of MPPTCL’s network has risen to 78,278 MVA, spread over 415 substations. (See table).
