Madhya Pradesh Power Transmission Company Ltd (MPPTCL), in a release, said that it is continuing its campaign to remove unauthorized constructions near EHV lines, to ensure public safety.
Following a recent accident, several dangerous residential buildings have already been removed. In the latest action, four more unauthorized structures were lawfully demolished in Bhopal. These constructions were located within the induction zone near the 132kV Bhopal-Lalghati EHV line in the Sharda Nagar area.
The lawful demolition exercise is to ensure removal of hazardous and unauthorized construction made in violation of prescribed safety norms.
MPPTCL said that some residents in Gali No. 13, Sharda Nagar, Nariyalkheda, had constructed unauthorized buildings, ignoring safety regulations. Despite prior notices, the homeowners did not remove these structures. Hence, MPPTCL took legal action and demolished them. This step was taken to eliminate the risk of potential electrical accidents and to ensure public safety, the release said.
The Madhya Pradesh state transmission utility said that all such unauthorized and dangerous constructions near EHV transmission lines in Bhopal are being identified and removed so as to completely eliminate the risk of accidents caused by contact with or proximity to the induction zone of these lines.
