NHPC has signed e-mobility agreements with Convergence Energy Services Ltd (CESL) for leasing of 25 electric vehicles and supply of three EV fast-chargers.
The agreement includes installation and commissioning, a release from NHPC said. With this agreement, NHPC will have the largest fleet of EVs amongst Central public sector enterprises, the release said. In 2019, NHPC had leased two EVs through Energy Efficiency Services Ltd (EESL). It may be noted that CESL is a wholly-owned subsidiary of EESL.
A broad MOU between NHPC and EESL to explore opportunities of energy efficiency and energy conservation measures in NHPC, is also under process.
The e-mobility agreements were signed through video conferencing on June 4, 2021, and represent NHPC’s commitment towards the environment, on the eve of celebrating World Environment Day 2021 (that falls on June 5).
Commenting on the E-Mobility Agreement, A.K. Singh, CMD, NHPC, said, “We are glad to expand our EV fleet by associating with CESL. NHPC is dedicated towards the environment and is committed to contribute towards reducing carbon footprints in the country.”

Speaking during the e-mobility agreement exchange, Saurabh Kumar, Executive Vice Chairperson, Energy Efficiency Services Ltd said, “It is a well-established fact that EVs are the future. The country’s transition towards cleaner modes of transport cannot be fulfilled without mass adoption of EVs and we are delighted to have partnered with NHPC to accelerate this movement.”
