CyanConnode Holdings plc, in a statement, announced that over 1 million smart meters are currently communicating on its RF (radio frequency) network in India.
A world leader in Narrowband RF smart mesh networks, CyanConnode’s RF communication network is delivering over 99 per cent Service Level Agreements (SLAs), which is amongst the highest in the country, the company said.

Headquartered in Cambridge, UK, CyanConnode is a leading global IoT specialist of intelligent communications solutions, bringing together narrowband RF mesh and cellular technologies along with head-end system to create a highly scalable platform for transmission, collection, and analysis of Smart Meter data. CyanConnode’s RF Smart Mesh Networks are designed for rapid deployment, while giving exceptional performance and competitive total cost of ownership.
Cyanconnode in India
CyanConnode is the largest private player in India providing RF communication solutions for AMI infrastructure. CyanConnode has been active in India since 2009 and executed its first project in 2014. CyanConnode has deployed its RF communication infrastructure for smart meters in nine Indian states — Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh and Assam. It has a current order book of 1.6 million RF nodes.
Over 20 per cent market share
Indore: A successful precedent
Indore’s smart metering project, which is running on CyanConnode’s Omnimesh RF communication network, became a case study that was later adopted by many other discoms across the country. The project was a triumph for the Indore discom (Madhya Pradesh Paschim Kshetriya Vidyut Vitaran Company Ltd) who achieved a return on investment in only two and a half years.
In addition, CyanConnode has been deploying its Omnimesh RF communication network in terrains of Himachal Pradesh, Assam, Tamil Nadu and Rajasthan. It has achieved a range of 4.2 km through regular RF nodes in Shimla, reemphasizing that its Omnimesh architecture is the best solution for smart metering in India with best possible coverage of dense, hilly, agricultural & semi-urban areas while delivering the desired SLAs.
CyanConnode launched its award-winning Omnimesh Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) platform In June 2018, which has already gained considerable commercial traction, especially in the company’s key market — India. Through a global partner eco-system, which is vendor agnostic, CyanConnode has several routes to market, therefore it is well positioned to capitalise upon increasing global demand for smart metering solutions, the company observed.
