Power Grid Corporation India Ltd (PGCIL) has acquired Ramgarh New Transmission Ltd (RNTL), the project SPV for a transmission scheme for which PGCIL had emerged as the successful bidder under the tariff-based competitive bidding (TBCB) mechanism.
The SPV was acquired from REC Power Distribution Company Ltd, the bid process coordinator (BPC), on March 9, 2021. RNTL was incorporated by the BPC, on June 26, 2020,
RNTL will be responsible for establishing a transmission system strengthening scheme for evacuation of power from solar energy zones in Rajasthan (8.1 GW) under Phase II (Part A), on build, own, operate, and maintain (BOOM) basis.
The transmission system involves establishment of a new 400/220kV substation, 400kV double-circuit transmission lines and associated Substation extension works in Rajasthan.
The transmission system is an Inter State Transmission System (ISTS) project and is to be completed in 18 months.
PGCIL will now proceed to get approval for grant of transmission license and adoption of transmission charges from Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC).
PGCIL, it may be mentioned, has emerged as successful bidder for all five projects awarded so far, related to power evacuation from Rajasthan solar parks. (Read more).
