Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (PGCIL) has formally completed the full acquisition of project special purpose vehicle “Mohanlalganj Transmission Ltd” from bid process coordinator PFC Consulting Ltd.
As reported by T&D India on May 20, 2022, PGCIL had emerged successful bidder under the TBCB modality for developing an intrastate power transmission scheme in Uttar Pradesh, through the aforementioned project SPV.
PGCIL completed the acquisition of Mohanlalganj Transmission Ltd (MTL) on May 30, 2022, for a total consideration of around Rs.9.11 crore.
MTL was incorporated by PFC Consulting Ltd in June 2021 to establish an intrastate transmission system in Uttar Pradesh, entailing construction of 400/220/132kV GIS substation, Mohanlalganj (Lucknow) with associated 400kV lines, and other 765kV and 400kV LILO lines at 765kV GIS Substation Rampur and 400kV LILO (Quad Moose on Monopole) at 400kV GIS Substation Sector 123 Naida, on BOOM (build, own, operate and maintain) basis.
MTL is expected to develop the transmission scheme within 18 months, with an estimated investment of around Rs.950 crore.
As this is an intrastate scheme to be developed within Uttar Pradesh, MTL will now proceed to seek transmission licence and adoption of transmission charges from Uttar Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission (UPERC). For interstate transmission system (ISTS) schemes, such approval is sought from Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC).
According to information available with T&D India, Mohanlalganj Transmission Ltd is the second intrastate power transmission scheme for PGCIL in Uttar Pradesh. In August 2021, PGCIL completed a project housed under project SPV “Jawaharpur Firozabad Transmission Ltd”.
