Premier Energies has commenced trial production of solar cells at its manufacturing facility at E-City Hyderabad, the company said in a release. Commercial operations are likely to begin in July this year.
Trial production has begun of industry-leading 19.2-per cent efficiency polycrystalline cells in the new plant built with an investment of Rs 483 crore. These solar cells are produced from high quality silicon wafers with 158.75mm x 158.75mm dimensions.
The ISO 9001/ ISO 14001 certified manufacturing facility uses state of the art production systems such as TQC (Total Quality Control) and SPC (Statistical Process Control) quality control.
This launch will therefore increase the availability of highest quality Made in India solar cells and contribute to the government’s Atmanirbhar Bharat initiatives, the release observed.
The high-tech facility, which started as a greenfield project, is located at E -City Hyderabad and is spread across 25 acres. The manufacturing unit is capable to produce Black Silicon MCCE textured multi-crystalline cells (which is first of its kind in India) as well as Mono PERC cells with efficiency in excess of 22.5 per cent.
This technology goes along with a wafer size change to 182 mm and 210 mm and will drive the industry towards lower Levelized Cost of Electricity and support a greener future.
Chiranjeev Saluja, Founder and Managing Director, Premier Energies said, “As more technologies emerge and the existing technologies evolve to meet market demands, our R&D efforts are focused on continuously innovating, to introduce highest efficiency and reliable products, with an unwavering focus on a higher return on investments for our customers. With the commencement of production, we have further strengthened our product portfolio which caters to a wide range of customers. This marks a significant milestone in the evolution of solar technology and will keep us on the path of leading the change while aligning ourselves with Aatmanirbhar Bharat”.
Headquartered in Greater Hyderabad Telangana, Premier Energies, has a capacity of 1.25 GW of solar module and 0.75 GW of solar cell. With this capacity increase the company, which completed 25 years of operation in 2020, becomes the second largest integrated manufacturer of solar cells and modules in India, the release added.
