REC Power Development & Consultancy Ltd (RECPDL) has proposed to empanel EPC contractors for carrying out power transmission-related works.
A wholly-owned subsidiary of REC Ltd, RECPDCL has invited expressions of interest from EPC contractors for transmission line and AIS/GIS substation projects under the following 14 categories:
- Transmission line projects up to 132kV
- Transmission line projects of 220kV
- Transmission line projects of 400kV
- Transmission line projects of 765kV
- GIS substation including transformer, up to 132kV
- GIS substation including transformer, up to 220kV
- GIS substation including transformer, up to 400kV
- GIS substation excluding 765kV transformer and 765kV reactor
- AIS substation including transformer, up to 132kV
- AIS substation including transformer, up to 220kV
- AIS substation including transformer, up to 400kV
- AIS substation excluding 765kV transformer and 765kV reactor
- 765kV transformer
- 765kV reactor
This empanelment will have a tenure of two years, which may be extended for another two years on mutual consent.
These EPC contractors will be associated with RECPDCL to jointly address turnkey business opportunities in the EHV substation and transmission line segment either as sub-vendor or as a bid partner based on tender requirements of the utilities, an official document of RECPDCL said.
The last date for submission of EOIs currently stands at June 26, 2024 and applications are expected to be opened on the same date.
Role in power T&D
The existing key services offered by RECPDCL include coordination of bid processes for interstate and intrastate transmission projects, coordination of bid processes for flexibility in generation schemes, engagement as Project Implementation Agency (PIA) for distribution, transmission and smart metering projects, Project Management Consultancy (PMC) for various Central government schemes like RDSS, DDUGJY, RGGVY, IPDS and Saubhagya, etc.
Speaking of recent projects, RECPDCL will be implementing a smart metering project under RDSS in the UT of Jammu & Kashmir, envisaging the rollout of 56 lakh smart meters. It will also be involved in a similar project in Gujarat covering 42 lakh smart meters.
RECPDCL is also implementing the 220kV Nubra-Zanskar transmission line, along with 220/33kV GIS substations, in the UT of Ladakh, in challenging topographic and weather conditions.
