The river diversion arrangement for SJVN’s 66-mw Dhaulasidh hydropower project in Himachal Pradesh was inaugurated on February 15, 2022, at the hands of the company’s CMD Nand Lal Sharma.
According to a company release, during his visit to the project site, Sharma inspected the project sites and took a detailed review of work progress. He appreciated that the construction activities at various components, excavation works at powerhouse, stripping works at the right and left banks, construction of office building and bachelor accommodation are in full swing.
“We are aiming to achieve the target for project commissioning in 2025. This will help SJVN in achieving the Vision of an installed capacity of 5,000 mw by 2023, 25,000 mw by 2030 and 50,000 mw by the year 2040,” noted Sharma.

The 66-mw Dhaulasidh hydropower project is a run-of-river scheme on River Beas at Dhulasidh, in Hamirpur district of Himachal Pradesh. It is being implemented on Build-Own-Operate-Maintain (BOOM) with an estimated project cost of is Rs.687 crore. On completion it will annually generate 304 million kwh of electricity, in a 90 per cent dependable year.
