Salzer Electronics: Wires & Cables business | T&D India

Over half of the FY21 revenues of Salzer Electronics Ltd came from the wires & cables business segment, according to a recent investor presentation by the company.

Salzer said that the wires & cables business accounted for 52.8 per cent of the company’s total revenues in FY21, as against a lower 47 per cent in FY20.

In fact, all the three other business segments saw a year-on-year decline in revenue share in FY21, as compared with FY20. (See table).

The industrial switchgear division saw a lower share of 41.3 per cent in FY21 revenues, as against 44.8 per cent in FY20. Salzer is understood to be the leader in CAM operated rotary switches with a domestic market share of 25 per cent. Incidentally, Sslzer is in the process of obtaining five product patents for rotary switches, the presentation said.

The building products segment—comprising building wires, modular switches, miniature circuit breakers and changeover switches—had a slightly lower share in FY21, at 5.4 per cent, down from 6.2 per cent in FY20.

The energy management category—a new business segment, largely including energy savers and street light controllers—had a minuscule 0.5 per cent in FY21 revenues, falling from 2.1 per cent in FY20.
