Sembcorp Energy India Ltd (SEIL) has recently won a 400-mw solar power project in an auction conducted by nodal agency Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI).
With this win, the Sembcorp Group now has a renewables portfolio of over 3,000 mw in operation and under development across India, China and Singapore,
This solar project will be developed by Sembcorp Green Infra, the renewable energy-focused subsidiary of Sembcorp Energy India, in Rajasthan.
The project will be connected to the state’s transmission utility Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Prasaran Nigam Ltd. The project’s entire output will be sold to SECI under a 25-year long-term power purchase agreement.
The grid-connected project, expected to be ready for commercial operation by mid-2022, will be funded through a mixture of internal funds and debt, a release from SEIL said.

SEIL, it may be mentioned, has completed the commissioning of 800 mw worth of wind projects awarded from three earlier SECI bids.
